WHAT IS ARTHRITIS AND HOW DO YOU GET ARTHRITIS
Arthritis is a term that is both familiar and unfamiliar. It is familiar because it has been heard by almost everyone; it is unfamiliar because few people say that it is arthritis. So what is arthritis?
In fact, "arthritis" is a general term. Any condition that can cause damage to the normal functioning of joints can be called arthritis. It can occur in the back, neck, knees, shoulder joints, hands, hips, or in the ankle joints. Arthritis occurs almost after the age of sixty.
The most common arthritis is osteoarthritis, which is caused by the wear and tear of articular cartilage. After osteoarthritis, the joints usually become red, swollen, and painful, and they feel hot when touched. In addition to osteoarthritis, sudden injury can also cause arthritis, such as fractures, ligament rupture or even a slight ankle sprain, which may cause arthritis in the future. Of course, receiving appropriate medical treatment after an injury can reduce the rate of arthritis, but sometimes the arthritis is unavoidable because the fracture is too broken or the articular cartilage and ligament are damaged too much.
Another common type of arthritis is "rheumatoid arthritis," a disease of the immune system in which the patient's body joints cover the synovium and are invaded and inflamed because there is currently no way to "cure" the disease, so patients It is usually necessary to take medication for a long time to control the condition. Other conditions that cause arthritis include gout, lupus erythematosus, and ankylosing spondylitis.
How to treat after having arthritis
First, you should have an orthopaedic examination, including a physical examination and a detailed medical history. The physician may then schedule X-rays and blood tests. Generally, such an examination should be sufficient to diagnose the type and severity of arthritis. The doctor will then use the following methods to treat, including: oral anti-inflammatory drugs, local injections, physical therapy, use of protective gear, changes in lifestyle, etc., of course, sometimes surgery is required, surgical methods are: joint cleaning, bone spur removal, artificial Joint replacement or joint fusion, which treatment to choose, requires detailed examination and is determined by the physician depending on each patient's condition. Therefore, I suggest that all patients, if there is joint swelling and pain, should go to the doctor to receive the correct diagnosis and treatment, in order to overcome arthritis!
